Parosa is a systems and software design practice based in Orange County, California, founded in 2018. We work with clients who need senior engineering judgment — on wireless systems, embedded and application software, and the practical integration of AI into existing workflows.
The practice draws on a network of senior software, wireless, and test engineers, assembled to fit the engagement rather than the other way around.

Principal
Payam Torab, Ph.D.
Payam Torab is the principal of Parosa. He is a hands-on systems and software engineer and team leader with more than two decades of work across networking, wireless communications, embedded software, and control systems.
Before founding Parosa, he spent five years at Broadcom as a Senior Principal Scientist in wireless systems engineering, where he led millimeter-wave systems work and authored the WiGig USB specification — later standardized as Media Agnostic USB. As a partner at Delart, he built and led a 30-plus person engineering organization supporting Meta’s Infrastructure and Reality Labs groups, contributing to the system design of Terragraph, Meta’s millimeter-wave mesh network initiative, and to low-latency wireless standards for AR and VR devices.
He is a long-standing contributor to the IEEE 802.11 working group, with more than forty submissions across the 802.11ad, 802.11ay, and 802.11be standards, along with filings to the FCC, ETSI, and the Wi-Fi Alliance. He holds 45 issued US patents, primarily in wireless communications.
His earlier career spanned optical networking and network control, including work on the first commercial GMPLS protocol stack at Movaz Networks (now ADVA), systems engineering at Lambda Optical Systems — where he was principal investigator on a Department of Energy SBIR award — and a research faculty appointment at George Mason University.
Payam holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his thesis addressed performance analysis of packet-switched networks with tree topology, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran, where he designed and built a two-fingered robotic manipulator.
Outside of client work, he is the creator of Dabble, a word game for iOS, and continues to research AI systems and applications.
